Hong Kee makes a standout amongst other egg tarts around – known for having a crust with 48 fresh layers. It's a family run business and they get up as right on time as 3am to prepare their cakes which are delivered to their slow down in Weng Seng restaurant. 

Despite having huge customers, they remain their food quality and friendly towards their loyal clients who have supported them all through these 40 years. So it's no big surprise they can sell in excess of 1000 pieces/day of egg tarts during ends of the week and public occasions.

Fook Kee is a hidden gem specializing in ''Char Kuey Teow'' fried noodles cooked with prawn stock. 

Queuing and waiting time could be around 45 minutes or more during top hours (frequented by local people) so my recommendation is to place your order, and then took some walk around the district which is full of others vender to look for some snack and or enjoy a bowl of ABC at Fei Ma's stall first. When you return, your seared noodles ought to be prepared in no time.

3. RESTORAN NASI KANDAR AYAM MERAH (NASI GANJA)

Known as 'nasi ganja' because of its addictiveness, the nasi kandar stall operating at Yong Suan coffeehouse is inarguably the most well known in Ipoh. Do not disappoint by the long queue of customers, as they are just talking away.  

For the individuals who are intending to eat in-shop, continue to sit down and proceed your way to counter make made your order. Simply mention to them what dishes you want – either served separately or bombard your rice with a mix of curry. The price range are around RM 12 - 18 depending on what item you picked.
